Canmore, Canada was not on the radar of the Sedona Sister Cities Association Board, when 45 cities were evaluated in 2022 for consideration as potential partnering cities. A local resident came to a SSCA Board meeting last August and recommended that we consider Canmore. She was from Canmore and lived in both Canmore and Sedona and gave many reasons why Canmore would be a good sister city for Sedona. From this initial conversation, the planned trip by Sedona Sister Cities Volunteers to Banff last fall was extended to Canmore. This was the beginning of an exploration that continues today. After conversations with Sean Krausert, Mayor of Canmore and Mayor Scott Jablow and several Canmore and Sedona leaders, we are officially exploring this possibility. Mayor Krausert and his wife came to Sedona in April, and returned to Canmore invested in creating a Sister City leadership team. The SSCA board is now working with Mayor Krausert and his newly formed Sister Cities Leadership Team and several explorations between leaders in Canmore and Sedona are underway
Jo Stone, Patrick Scheweiss, Patty Herman-Juda, Chuck Marr and Judy Neiman travel to Canmore and Banff, Canada in November at their own expense to continue the search for Sedona's sister city.

Mayor Sean Krausert and his wife Janet, visit Sedona in April and fall in love with the people and the Red Rocks.
Mayor Sean Krausert, with SSCA President Chuck Marr, Mayor Scott Jablow, and Vice Mayor Holly Ploog, met to discuss next steps during the Mayor Krausert's recent visit to Sedona.
Mayor Krausert was greeted by Sedona residents and many ideas came forth for ways that the two communities might collaborate and learn from each other.
Several weeks after we submitted our letter of interest to Lahinch, Ireland, we received a thoughtful response from the County Clare Twinning Committee that due to the after-effects of the pandemic, Lahinch in N.W. County Clare wasn't able to "twin" with Sedona at this time.
Because interest in finding a compatible Irish Sister City remains high, we have formed an Ireland Study Group to evaluate other Irish communities as potential Sister Cities to Sedona. Sedona Sister City members will travel to Ireland this year to evaluate potential partner cities. Please consider joining the Ireland Exploration Team to continue our search.
